Dr. Robert Balfanz of the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University discussed the unique needs of rural communities in setting up Early Warning Systems to identify students who may fall off-track for promotion or graduation. Several district leaders showcased effective interventions to help struggling middle and high school students get back on a path to school success. These highlighted interventions included whole-school approaches, targeted supports for struggling students, and more intensive interventions.
